Hello friends! Halloween is just around the corner and every one is trying to get their best costumes for this day. Most often we get carried away with the activities of this day and often do not know the significance of this day or just forget. Have you ever asked yourself what Halloween is all about ? What those this day mean? Christian perspectives on the observance of Halloween today are strongly divided. Some believers feel complete freedom to observe the holiday, others run and hide from it, many boycott or ignore it, a number celebrate it through more positive and imaginative observances. Some of today’s popular celebrations associated with Halloween have pagan roots stemming from the ancient Celtic festival.Halloween came about the Celtic holiday of the Samhain, an ancient celebration of the spirits of the dead. The Feralia is another Halloween inspiration. It was a public festival where citizens made sacrifices to calm the spirits of the death so they wouldn’t haunt the living. The Samhain was one of the most important holidays for the Celtic people which occurred on November 1st instead of October 31st, on this day the Celtic believed that the spirits of the dead will mingle with the living before traveling on the afterlife. So on this day, other supernatural creatures like fairies, demons and devils came out to protect the good souls and scare the bad spirits from harming the living. Why only on this day… I don’t know but this is my point Halloween is the celebration of the dead and demons and so while you are feasting on this day bare this in mind am celebrating the devil.
Don’t participate in the things these people do. For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. (NLT)
